The Honda Shadow 125 is a bit lardy, and rather expensive, but an excellent entry level machine for custom fans.It looks the part, is beautifully finished, very reliable and is relatively gentle and forgiving for the novice rider

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 Looks to capitalise on the success of the larger 401 and 701 models.
It uses the same Euro5 DOHC four-valve single cylinder motor and trellis frame as the KTM Duke 125. The big difference between the two models is the bodywork and styling, which on the Husqvarna is an all-enveloping short-tailed one-piece design creating an almost monocoque-like appearance.
Willing, playful and easy to ride as a novice, where the small Husky falls down is its narrow seat, which feels firm and can lead to a numb bum. Still, it’s no problem on a short blast.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen isn’t meant to be a sporty bike, but it still does a pretty good impression of being one. It’s light and flickable, allowing you to change lines with ease and it darts from one side to the other like a toy and turns so quickly it took me by surprise on more than one occasion.
But the overall beauty of the Vitpilen underneath that radical bodywork is how easy it is to ride and how much fun it is – and all without the need to be doing double the speed limit! The 401 has much wider abilities than many expected and will appeal to everyone from fashionable commuters to new bikers
